Gifts for the Job Searching Dietitian
Looking for a gift that supports a dietitian on their job search journey? This category is filled with thoughtful and practical ideas to help them stand out and stay sane. One of the hardest parts about being unemployed is the ample amount of time with very limited financial resources. Gifts that provide entertainment and comfort are a huge hit during this season of life.
We also love gifts that help promote success and confidence in the job search. Let’s dive in.
Supplies for a Favorite Hobby or an Art Class
Finding ways to stay creative can help with mood and self-worth during the job search process. This is especially true if the dietitian in your life is struggling with burnout. I love crafts and activities that don’t necessarily require talent.
Fitness Class or Online Subscription
Gym memberships can be one of the first things to go when on a strict budget. Make sure to ask about preferences before giving the gift of “fitness” so that the gift isn’t taken the wrong way.
Fitness gear for home exercise programs may also be a welcome gift.
I personally love SLAM by Get Mom Strong and MadFit. But there are hundreds of other options out there.
Career Coaching Packages or Guides
Give the gift of resume or interview prep support. You can purchase a gift certificate for any of my sessions and packages.
The Complete Guide to Mastering the RD Interview also makes a great gift.
Dinner Dates, Coffee Dates & Wine Nights
The job search can be very lonely and mentally taxing. Social time with friends and families is a great way to support the job-seeking dietitian in your life.
Treat your friend to dinner or coffee out or host them at your place for a cozy meal.
Gifts for New & Seasoned Dietitians
It’s no doubt that dietitians are incredibly hardworking. Here are some of my favorite gifts for dietitians that range from fun to pampering to practical.
Fun Badge Reels, Stickers & Apparel
There are tons of fun dietitian swag and office decor. Check out:
Stickers & Clothing from Donut Season
A Walking Pad or Standing Desk
Both of these may be splurges, but they’re the perfect gift for the dietitian who works from home. A walking pad has been on my list for the past year.
I’ve been looking into the Foldable Walking Pad and I’ve been very happy with my Flexispot Electronic Standing Desk.
Professional Headshots
This is a great gift that can feel like a big splurge. I have been surprised how often I need to use a headshot. I have used it for my LinkedIn profile, my employer’s website and for speaker bios at conferences. Having a photo that is professional makes a huge difference.
CEU Courses & Trainings
While this may not seem like the most glamorous gift, specialized conferences and courses can really add up. Money to travel or attend an event may be the perfect gift for the dietitian in your life.
The Search Savvy Membership is a great option for the new RD entrepreneur.
The 2024 Dietitian Money Conference is a great value (18 CEUs)! The recording is still available.
The 2025 Dietitian Growth Summit is another great option (8 CEUs). Attend live or snag the recording.
A Spa Day, Massage or Self-Care Items
You can never go wrong with a spa day or massage. The dietitian in your life (or you) works hard!
A fun candle is always appreciated too.
Gifts for A Preceptor or Nutrition Professor
Have you worked with a preceptor or a nutrition professor who made a huge impact on your career? Here are a few ideas to show you appreciation.
A thank you note.
I know, I know. That doesn’t feel like enough, but I promise that a heartfelt note goes a long way. I still have notes from my past students and interns. Your preceptors and instructors know that you’re not making an income and we don’t expect gifts.
Homemade Baked Goods or Snacks
I know this sounds simple, but this is another favorite gift!
Snacks and treats are always appreciated. I have had interns bring in banana bread, cookies and even a favorite cultural dish for the team to share.
Homemade jams and seasonal treats are also popular. Simple and low cost is totally appropriate!
Office Decor or Fun Plants
A cute new nutrition-related print or a fun plan (fake or alive) is another great gift.
Check out Donut Season and Etsy for some fun options.
A new mug and coffee/tea
A fun new mug is also a great option.
I love the creative designs from No Strings Nutrition. She also has a great candle for preceptors. There are also a lot of sassy/witty mugs out there- use your discretion when gifting to a superior.
You also can’t go wrong with a nice local blend of coffee beans or tea!
That’s a wrap!
No matter the occasion, finding the right gift for a dietitian shows that you appreciate their hard work and dedication to helping others live healthier lives. Whether you choose something practical, inspiring, or just plain fun, the thought you put into it will make all the difference. We hope this guide has sparked some great ideas to celebrate the dietitian in your life. Happy gifting!
